Job Title: Custodial & Maintenance Lead
Reports To: Operations Manager
Location: Wisconsin Dells & Reedsburg Campuses
Job Type: Full-Time / Nights and Weekends as Needed
Position Summary:
The Custodial & Maintenance Lead is a hands-on role responsible for keeping our buildings, grounds, and equipment clean, safe, and in good working order. This person spends the bulk of their time performing cleaning, upkeep, and minor repair work directly, and may occasionally direct one or two part-time staff on routine tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and janitorial duties across facilities (floors, restrooms, common areas, courts/gym spaces).
- Conduct routine upkeep and minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry) as needed.
- Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment, and flag or escalate larger repair needs to vendors or ownership.
- Maintain cleaning/maintenance supply inventory and place restock orders.
- Set up and break down spaces for events and tournaments alongside other staff.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues (spills, leaks, equipment failures).
- Keep basic logs of work performed and inspections completed.
- When part-time help is scheduled, show them the ropes and check that their work meets standard.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training a plus.
- 2+ years of janitorial/maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of cleaning practices and basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical labor throughout a shift.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal oversight.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
- An eye for detail!
- Experience operating small machinery and power tools (floor buffers, pressure washers, snowblowers, mowers, etc.)
- Snow removal experience (shoveling, snowblowing, plowing, and ice management for walkways/parking areas)
- Lawn care and light landscaping (mowing, trimming, edging, seasonal cleanup, basic irrigation)
- Basic familiarity with tracking supply usage or working with outside repair vendors
Work Environment:
This position requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and use of cleaning/maintenance tools and equipment. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
